A large majority of men rarely think of organizing their wardrobe. We all sort of cling to the old die hard “dig and find” method. Despite the fact that it takes longer to find anything, organizing that old closet just doesn’t sit very high on the priority list. In fact, it often times makes it to the “I’ll get to it some day”, or the “I’ll get around to it” lists. There is hope for us closet neglectors though, and surprisingly it’s not rocket science. If the initial set-up is done right, it is fairly easy to develop a system that will make your life much easier.
Organizing your wardrobe in reality comes to personal choice. Whether you prefer your pants to be stored on the right or the left doesn’t matter as long as you are creating a well thought-out system that is easy to keep up. Stick to the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Stupid Simple) method. If you have no idea where to start, then this article is right for you. Below are a few general tips on how to organize your wardrobe. Use the tips that work for you. Use them to customize a system that works best for you.
First, start by completely emptying the wardrobe top to bottom. Clean the storage area as is required. Chances are that clumps of dust have piled up over the years in the corners. Empty your wardrobe completely and use a vacuum to get rid of all that dust. Next, sort all the things out that you no longer wear. If you are a pack-rat, this might be quite difficult. If this is the case then follow this general rule of thump: If you haven’t worn something for at least a year, give it, or throw it away.
Now that you have limited the amount of clothes, organizing them will be much easier. When organizing your wardrobe make sure to put the clothes that you most frequently wear in the most accessible area. Start by thinking about different clothes for different seasons. If it is summer, store all your winter clothes in a separate storage bin. Once again you have narrowed down the clothes to organize. Next, look at all smaller items such as socks and underwear. Sort through all the single socks, and put the ones together that still have a matching pair. All small pieces that are part of your daily attire should be stored away in an easy accessible drawer.
The remaining clothes should be sorted by function. Work clothes such as suits, shirts, and neckties should be stored separately from your casual clothes. Make sure you don’t hang your suit jackets too tightly, and keep your neckties away from any sharp edges. Your dress pants should be hung to prevent wrinkles. If you have multiple suits, keep matching pants with each jacket.
Your shoes are best stored in an adjustable shoe shelf that you can place in the bottom of your closet. Just as with your clothes, sort your shoes by their function. Dress shoes should be on one side, and casual shoes on the other. Store your shoes toe-in first to allow easy access of a pair with one hand.

With the new year, it is time for a new image. Time to streamline your wardrobe so that everything fits and flatters you perfectly. Make those I-have-nothing-to-wear days history. Pare down your wardrobe ruthlessly and throw out anything that does not make you look amazing.
Set aside a day, or two to try on every item of clothing you own.
Does it look good on you?
Yes? Keep it.
Maybe? Throw it out.
No? Throw it out too.
Okay, you need not throw them into a bin. You could give them away to someone who might appreciate it more all sell them to a second hand store.
Take stock of what you have left? You would probably be left with very few items if you have gone through your wardrobe thoroughly, with a critical eye.
Before you shop for the latest Spring/summer styles, stop. You do not want to fill your wardrobe with more clothes that do not flatter you. What looks great on your best pal could very well look awful on you.
Spring/Summer 2008 fashion is elegant. From simple cuts to tiered dresses. Colors range from black, white (classics every season) to tan to mint green and pink and purple. No must wear color or must wear shape or strict skirt length. The only rule is to wear something that makes you look fabulous and that is the attitude you should take when revamping your wardrobe. Vertical stripes are hot this season which is a boon for anyone who could use their slimming effect.
Study the clothes you are keeping. The ones that make you look great. Does any particular color dominate?
Speaking about color, do you know which colors really flatter you?
The right colors make a world of difference. A simple dress in your color can make you look radiant, but the exact same dress in a different color that clashes with your skin tone could make you look sickly. Choose your colors carefully.
Do you look better in cool colors or warm colors? If there already is a particular color, like electric blue or gold or peach that makes you look particularly wonderful, make that the basic color in your wardrobe and get at least a skirt, a pair of pants, a top and a dress in that shade. Then search for other colors that complement your chosen color and which make you look amazing.
When you buy clothing, do not look at the size alone. Size is but a number, conjured up according to the whims of the fashion houses. You don’t have to be a size zero to look gorgeous. You do have to wear clothes that fit your actual size and which flatter your figure type if you want to look your best.
Measure the widest part of your hip and the largest part of your bustline. Are your hips larger than your bust or is your bustline larger than your hips?
If your hips are larger, you are bottom heavy or pear shaped.
If both are about the same, plus minus an inch, you have an hourglass figure.
If your bust is larger than your hips than you are top heavy.
This fact alone determines what types of outfits you should go for if you want to look your very best.
If you are bottom heavy, you can get away with padded jackets. Printed tops, frills on the top and any details that draw attention to the top half of your body is desirable. You might want to wear something dark a plain to visually shrink your hips. Bubble skirts, pleated skirt or anything that draws attention to your hips would only make them bigger and make you look disproportionate.
If you are top heavy, you can wear any type of pants. You can even get away with a full skirt or pleated one. By the way, many models are top heavy, so yours is a very desirable figure type. Then again watch what you wear on top. If your bust is big, you could wear plunging necklines or clothes that show off your cleavage so you would look sexy and not fat.
If you have an hourglass figure, you’ve got the ideal figure and can get away with most outfits.

If you are somebody who buy clothes on impulse without planning when you will wear the item of clothing and with what, then you are not alone. There are many reasons why we shop and often it isn’t because we need to buy anything. Sometimes we buy clothes to cheer ourselves up or we see something lovely on somebody else or on a mannequin in a shop window.
This can be both wasteful of money and wasteful of wardrobe space. Think about it, how many pairs of jeans do we really need and how many classic white shirts will we wear in a week? Most clothes are washable these days and nearly everybody has access to a washing machine, so clothes can be washed, dried and ironed very quickly. Gone are the days of Monday “washing day”.
Before embarking on a wardrobe weed, it is worth spending a little time working out how you spend your week. A pie chart is a useful tool here. Work out how much time you spend at work, at home, socialising and at what level you socialise. For example do you socialise informally with friends at the pub, go clubbing or attend smart dinner parties or fundraising balls? Once you have ascertained how you spend your time, you can start sorting your wardrobe. The aim is to match the quantity of clothes to the quantity of time you might be wearing them. So for example if you work a 40 hour week and are required to wear smart suits, a large proportion of your wardrobe needs to be allocated to work clothes.
Now you need look at how often you have worn the clothes you have. The general rule is that if you haven’t worn something for 12 months, its time to get rid of it! Some clothes have sentimental value, in which case they can be packed away with moth repellent lavender, under the bed or on a top shelf.
It is important to have a structure to your wardrobe. You need some basics in a good neutral colour that suits you. If you are struggling to work out what your neutral colours are, a colour analysis is perhaps what you need. You will need two or three pairs of trousers, skirts and jackets (this needs to be altered according to your lifestyle pie chart) in neutral colours which can then be mixed and matched with tops, blouses and knitwear in a range of flattering colours. If you get it right, you will be able to make several different outfits out of a handful of items.
Once you have decided what to keep, make three piles with the discarded items. One pile of good quality, clean and relatively up to date items that you can either sell through a seconds shop or on ebay. A second pile of clean unstained items that can be taken to a charity shop and a third pile that is probably unsalvageable that can be recycled.
Alternatively why not arrange a “swop shop” with some friends. Your cast offs may be just what someone else is looking for! It could be a fun way to get together and you could end up with a whole new wardrobe too.

I often ask clients, “If you have to get dressed in five minutes, what would you wear?” The answer is often the same, “I don’t know!”
In our society, we all have extremely busy lives. Yet, we tend to neglect important aspects of our lives. Paying close attention to how we look when we leave our homes requires real time, strong effort, and adequate preparation. Choosing the right clothes for your wardrobe should be on the top of your priority list.
Creating plans to update and enhance your wardrobe for 2008 may seem tedious and unimportant. Uniquely, there are many benefits to updating your wardrobe. If you are truly considering losing weight and looking slimmer, you need to evaluate your options now!
Some people have missed out on jobs and other important opportunities because of what they wore to their interview. This change is the result of visual stimulation provided by the entertainment and fashion industries. Increasing numbers of retailers are creating specialty boutiques, stores, and shops to fit this growing need. It is up to you to use these retailers to your benefit. It is my job and duty to help my clients recognize the importance of choosing the right clothes with the hope that they will spend less time wasting money on clothes they will never wear.
The first step in updating your wardrobe is to evaluate what you own. Creating an inventory list of what you have in your closet makes it clear of where you currently stand and what you need to purchase. Create categories for your clothing: casual, work, dress, and special occasions.
The next step is to examine the clothing you own and how it fits your lifestyle. Your lifestyle deeply influences the way you look. Do you participate in sports that require certain clothing? To you attend sporting events, which require specific clothing? Are you in the medical field? Does your job require scrubs as a wardrobe? Do you work in an office environment, which requires suits worn on a daily basis?
Once you have determined what you own and how your clothing fits your life, you must determine what clothing you will keep, give-away, and throw away. Critique each individual piece of clothing you own. Check for loose buttons, holes, stains, etc… Try on all clothing in a full length mirror. It’s amazing how a full length mirror can help you access how you look. In addition, create piles for your clothing. You should have a keep pile, throw-away pile, and give-away pile.
One of the great benefits of giving clothing away is you are providing a less fortunate person with clothing and you can utilize a tax deduction. Dress for Success of Jackson is a great organization to support. Women are provided attire to wear to job interviews. Dress for Success of Jackson helps these women secure a better future for themselves, as well as for their family.
Next, create a list of what you need to complete your wardrobe. What do you need to purchase? What do you need to replace after giving the clothing away? What accessories do you need? Here is a checklist of wardrobe basics:
1. Three piece suit (jacket, skirt, pants)
2. Fitted Jacket
3. Versatile Skirt
4. White Dress Shirt
5. Day Dress
6. Basic Black Dress
7. Slacks
8. Black Dress
9. Trench Coat
10. Handbag
Using your checklist, determine stores and boutiques, which fit your style and budget. Planning out your shopping route can ease the pain and frustration associated with shopping. If you really dread shopping, you can always hire an image consultant to journey with you or without you.
To enhance your wardrobe is a really simple process. Setting aside a Saturday to evaluate what you own is worth the effort. Adequate planning, effort, and preparation can have you looking great in 2008.

When you are building a wardrobe there are many things to consider so you have everything you needed for the perfect style. Many of the things that you need to know include your body type, size, being realistic, and your best colors. These things will help you make good decisions on the type of clothing that you should wear.
Your body type is everything when it comes to purchasing clothing and building your wardrobe. You may love jeans but have all of the wrong pairs that don’t fit you right. When you choose clothing you have to build the wardrobe based on how thin or heavy you are, the length of your legs, the size of your bust, and much more. Many women with a really small bust wear tops that are designed for a larger breast size. This only looks silly and doesn’t fit right. Wear clothing that looks right with the type of body you have. Clothing needs to fit you right. This doesn’t mean tight but appropriately. If it is too baggy it may make you look larger than you already are.
Another consideration is being smart about the size. Just because your favorite clothing manufacturer makes an outfit in your size doesn’t meant that is right for your body and your size. You may even have coupons from them and want to spend them on one of their outfits. This would be a bad decision if you didn’t base your decision on the type of outfit. For example, if you are overweight and have a large stomach then you may not want to wear a pair of low rise jeans that hang below the hip bones. If you are really tall you won’t want to wear them either because they will make you look even taller. Short and thin women can get away with these types of jeans because they will add height that they need.
Colors need to be considered also when you are building your wardrobe. Most women assume that they can build a base of their wardrobe with black but instead black looks terrible on them. Make sure that the color looks good on you and that it is not too overpowering for your body type and style. You want to be noticed as fashionable but also for people to notice you. The best way to get started with a wardrobe base is to learn which colors are your best colors. This way you can buy a few pieces to build your wardrobe on. Don’t wear the same color everyday though.
There are many things that you need to consider when you are building a wardrobe. You have to be fashionable but the clothing you choose must match your body type and your style. Make sure that what you are wearing matches you and looks good on you. Never be afraid to ask in a store. However, always remember that many sales reps in a department store are making commission so they may tell you something looks good when it really doesn’t.

In the popular movie “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”, author C.S. Lewis created the imaginary land of Narnia, where 4 children encounter time travel and discover the forces of both good and evil, and take a much greater part in that battle than they had ever dreamed possible.
Set during World War 2, four siblings Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edmund are moved to the county because of the bombing in London, and begin to explore the big house that is their temporary new home. In a back room of the house is a large wardrobe filled with many coats. The youngest sister, Lucy, runs into the wardrobe to hide from the other kids, and in so doing discovers that the back of the wardrobe is the door to another world named Narnia. In that world she encounters a faun named Tumnus who lulls her to sleep with an enchanting tune on his flute. When she returns hours later through the wardrobe to her brothers and sister, she finds that no time at all has elapsed. Apparently time in Narnia is non-correlated with time in England. (A notion, by the way, consistent with Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity.) Her siblings quite naturally chide her when she tells them of her adventure, but she remains convinced her experience was real. One by one the others also enter, but find that this new world of Narnia is no longer a happy place but is locked in the grip of perpetual winter by the magic of an evil queen.
In due time the children, known in Narnia as “sons of Adam and daughters of Eve” learn that Aslan, the lion king of this world of Narnia, is coming back and can help them against the witch. But when they learn that one of their own, Edmund, was deceived by the witch and now is actually in her service, they need even more help. Aslan is as good as he is powerful, and with him all things are possible. He eventually gives his life in exchange for their release from the magic of the White Witch, then comes back to life due to “deeper magic from before the dawn of time.” (Wormholes into another dimension?) After much battling the forces of evil with Aslan’s help and finally defeating the White Witch, the 4 children eventually rule the kingdom of Narnia as Kings and Queens for what seemed like a thousand years before being whisked back to England only to find themselves children again playing in the old house.
Hmmmm. Sounds kind of familiar…like something that has been going on in our world for the past few thousand years.
Well, be that as it may, and setting aside for a moment the obvious parallels to Christianity, it occurred to me that Einstein would have been first in line to see the movie.
How so?
For one thing, Einstein, known for his massive knowledge, said “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
In the land of Narnia time was completely non-correlated to time in England, which is consistent with Einstein’ theory of time dilation. And wormholes that tunnel into distant regions of space and time and black holes and string theory and spacetime curvature… “The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe” has it all and more.
Move over, Albert, I’m coming with you!

Are you staying over at your parent’s place for thanksgiving?
Will you be attending one party after another during the holiday season?
Are you going away on a vacation?
Don’t forget to bring along your jewelry wardrobe. If you are space-challenged, you might even be able to pack your entire jewelry wardrobe into a pillbox.
Get yourself cubic zirconia diamond and gemstone earrings. These are all the accessories you need to carry along with you for your traveling wardrobe.
For one thing, earrings set in sparkling gemstones enhance a woman’s appearance instantly. As the light from the gemstones are reflected on the wearer’s face, her skin looks more radiant and her eyes light up. Somehow diamond earrings are able to bring out a woman’s innate beauty.
The best thing about earrings is that you can fit several pairs of earrings into a tiny coin purse or even a pillbox if you are talking about those tiny stud earrings. Larger chandelier earrings or shoulder dusters should fit nicely into a waist pouch or a coin purse or any spare space in your suitcase or even a CD wallet. In any case, you would be able to carry an entire jewelry wardrobe wherever you go.
Bring along diamond stud earrings for the day, larger clip on earrings (no dangles as these are distracting) for the office, hoops for glamor and shoulder dusters or chandelier earrings for red carpet moments when you want to look amazing.
Switch earrings when you go from day to night. Gorgeous drop earrings are wonderful for a romantic date, and chandelier earrings are for times when you are dressed to kill.
There is a major disadvantage with bringing around diamonds or precious gemstones with you when you travel. For one thing. you could get robbed. Or you might lose an expensive diamond earring while you are dancing, or moving from one place to another. That might mean hundreds or even thousands of dollars down the drain.
For women on the go, your best bet would be something that looks like diamonds and rubies and precious gemstones, but costs very little in comparison. I’m talking about costume jewelry. Unlike tacky costume jewelry centuries ago, today’s imitation diamonds look so much like the real thing that you may need special instruments to tell the difference. The very affordable cubic zirconia is often used in place of diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds in the best costume jewelry that may be made of precious silver. You can even get a look-alike pair inspired by what your favorite Hollywood starlet wore to the Oscars, or which your favorite celeb wore to the Grammys. You can even get jewelry inspired by Bulgari and other prohibitively expensive fine jewelry store. These CZ earrings are jewels you can wear freely when you travel.
With cubic zirconia earrings, you can afford to collect a complete jewelry wardrobe. Pick earrings in colors you normally wear to match your clothes. These should be colors that flatter you.
Also get earrings that are white and colorless (think diamonds) as these would go with all your outfits.
Take into account your size.
If you are big, go for chunky jewelry. Few women can carry them off with panache and you are one of these lucky few. These are the earrings you can wear:
1. Large clip on earrings or button earrings.
2. Chandelier earrings
3. Shoulder Duster earrings
4. Stunning earrings with large drops
5. Large, chunky hoop earrings.
If you are petite, go for dainty earrings. Tiny studs wouldn’t get lost on you as they might on your larger friends. Wear earrings that look wonderful on you but odd on them.
1. Tiny stud earrings
2. Delicate filigree earrings
3. Small drop earrings
4. Single stone ear studs
5. Dainty dangling earrings
You earring wardrobe can transform any outfit you wear.
Wearing a little black dress?
You can change your look by switching the accessories.
For a fancy dinner, try that LBD with a pair of shoulder dusters and a pair of metallic stiletto sandals. Style your hair in an updo and let a few tendrils loose.
For a romantic dinner, wear that black dress with demure drop earrings and Mary Janes. Tuck your hair behind your ears.
For a business presentation, wear that dress with a power jacket and clip on earrings or button earrings and a pair of black pumps.
For a sexy date, wear hoop earrings with your little black dress and a pair of Manilo Blahniks.
Get the picture?
Back home, you can organize your entire collection in a pretty jewelry box or a compartmentalized box meant for fish bait. Whichever suits your needs for your jewelry collection.

Wardrobes are generally the key piece of furniture in any bedroom as they often dominate the room. Other furniture is often covered or concealed by ornaments, photographs and day to day products like jewelery boxes and makeup. The wardrobe is usually the most clearly visible piece of furniture so the look and style of it can influence your whole room. Fashion can change over the years but the wardrobe in your house can stand the test of time. A wardrobe will last as long as you want it to, this depends on how much you are prepared to spend. If you invest in good quality furniture you will not be disappointed and it will serve you well for years to come. Alternatively many people spend less on furniture so they can update to keep up with the latest fashions. Our customers have invariably tried the cheaper route and found that the cheaper quality products let them down due to bad construction and finishes that do not stand the test of time so they look to us for an alternative which is unique and practical.
Our particular style of antique wardrobes are original and usually between eighty and one hundred years old. Each one being unique as we rarely get two the same apart from a few pairs that have come in over the years. The wardrobes are all pine as we don’t deal in any other type of wood. All the wardrobes have been hot caustic stripped to remove years of old paint and kill any wood worm. When all all the paint or varnish has been removed we can see what sort of repairs are required, hopefully not too many, as we try to keep all the original features where possible. Normally the first job is to replace the feet with new ones in a style and shape that matches the wardrobe, a victorian bun is a good choice. The feet have a dowel so you have to drill a hole in the base to fit them, they can be glued in but if you have a good fit, leave the glue then you can remove them later. I have to change the top cornice sometimes as they get damaged over the years, plus any splits in the panels are glued and clamped. Check the drawer runners for wear and replace them if necessary. The wardrobe can be sanded down now if there are no other major repairs and stained down with a water based stain to blend in the repairs ready for waxing. Locks and keys are also repaired and replaced.
Our wardrobe collection are mainly of a breakdown type with one, two or three doors. The construction is normally fitted together by tongue and groove joints on all the larger parts and dowels on the rest, this allows the wardrobe to be completely disassembled and easily reassembled in your home. The joints are held together tightly by a wooden or metal taper on the inside on all four corners which gives a good solid construction.
We endeavour to find the best quality pieces with good lines and age but also good solid craftsmanship when they were fist made, so you get furniture that will keep its value and stand the test of time

When it’s drab outside during these winter months, we often wish we could inject some colour into our lives to cheer us up. We can so easily do this by way of our clothing but when we are so used to wearing our staple black, brown, charcoal & navy, many of us are overwhelmed by the mass of colours available to us.
So, let’s investigate colour, take the plunge and add a splash of colour to our working wardrobe. By understanding the psychology of colour, you can apply it to help lift your mood, give you confidence and can even use it to your advantage by potentially boosting your career opportunities.
Most of us will have staple Navy Blue in our wardrobes. This colour provides a fantastic base for us all. But why? Well, navy is the colour that most conveys trust and order. When you wear navy, it allows you to be authoritative yet approachable. Think about the many police forces across the globe whose uniforms are blue! Therefore blue is for the work place teamed with a splash of colour in a blouse, top, shirt or tie.
Red is a great colour if you wish to appear confident and full of energy. So, when you want people to sit up and take notice, opt for a splash of red. Red is a good colour to add in a tie or top when chairing a meeting but to be avoided at a job interview as it could be interpreted as aggressive or impatient. You’ll do well to wear red on a Friday if your energy levels are low but doesn’t do so well if trying to rock the kids to sleep!
Many of us have a basic white shirt or blouse in our working wardrobe. This is great because it portrays a fresh and clean image. But beware of white looking harsh and opt for a soft white, so as to soften the look and appear more friendly and approachable. White can also be viewed as boring and predictable, so if I were you, I’d opt for one of the other colours we’re discussing here before heading back to your white.
Yellow, by it’s very nature, is a colour of activity and by portraying fun, can allow your personality to shine through. But, also a volatile colour, it’s not a great look worn from head to toe or worn during a meeting, as it can distract attention. However, a yellow tie or cardigan is enough.
Green, being a colour of nature is dependable and calming; think about our paramedics in green. So if you have feelings of nervousness, try experimenting with shades of green to keep you calm. With it’s camouflage properties, green can help you blend into your work environment, not good if you are after that promotion!
Pink is one colour many of us shy away from. But, at work it can portray non-threatening and gentle qualities. However, men can get away with wearing pink at work far more than women can. On a man, through a shirt or tie, it can show self confidence and creativeness, but on a woman it can appear too girly and damage confidence in your professionalism.
So here are just some ideas on injecting some colour into your wardrobe. Why not pop along to see your local style consultant to find more about how to wear colours which suit you best.
