While end tables are naturally considered a part of a living room or great room, in today’s home end tables can really fit pretty much anywhere. The tremendous variety of end tables on the market gives you an endless choice of how to use them in your own home.
Think of the ways you would use end tables. You’re probably thinking of the traditional uses, at the end of a sofa or between a couple of chairs in a seating room in your home. Where else?
Let’s start with the entrance to your home. As you walk in the door, what do you have in your hands? Keys? The mail? The dog leash? There area a lot of items we bring in and out the front door of the home and without a place near the door to keep those items you may end up leaving them all over the house. This means when you need them again, you will be looking all over the house to find where you put them. End tables placed in the foyer or entryway will alleviate this by being the place you can always put things as you come inside. And you’ll know when you go back to those end tables that the things you need will be waiting for you. Many end tables even have drawers in them so you can put items away and keep the entryway looking nice and neat.
Now, move into the bedroom. End tables can come to use in this room by doubling as night tables in your master suite, guest bedroom, or other bedrooms in the home. If you have an armoire or other space in your bedroom that holds a television and entertainment items, you may want to have end tables nearby as a place to put remotes, other pieces of equipment that hook into your television, or even the TV guide so you can see what’s coming on when you kick back at night. With the variety in shapes, sizes and colors of end tables these days, it will not be too hard to find one that matches your current bedroom furniture set.
Some fancier end tables may be able to find a home in your master bathroom as an addition to a vanity table or dressing area. When getting ready for a night on the town there is always a lot of things needed to get the right look together, and it’s nice to be able to have all those items nearby as you get dressed.
Onto the office; it almost goes without saying that end tables can be handy here. In the office there is always something that needs a table to be set on. It could be a printer or scanner that need to be plugged into the computer, or the stack of papers you still need to deal with, but need off of your desk.
Until now you may have only thought of end tables as tables in the living room, but the next time you are furniture shopping, you may see these underappreciated pieces of furniture in a new light.

Maybe you are just now experiencing winter this year or maybe you are in an area that’s been hit several times by the freezes, ice overs and wintery mixes. There are a number of things that you can keep in mind to help make your apartment life a lot easier during these times of cold.
Drip, Drip, Drip- First off, protect those pipes! If you are expecting an overnight freeze, it is very important to leave one of your sinks dripping to prevent the pipes from freezing, busting, and your apartment building having a terrible leak.
Plants are People Too- Okay, so plants aren’t really people of course, but they are effected by freezes just as we are and can in fact be killed by being stuck out in the freezing cold. So, if you have plants on your porch, you’ll want to bring them inside if possible. If you can’t bring them inside, cover them with some bed sheets, to try and help sheild them from the blistering cold.
Pets- Bring any and all pets inside. Just because they have fur, means nothing in the face of a wintery mix.
Heaters- Crank up the heaters to be safe. With a central heating unit you should be in good shape, but to prevent your electric bill from sky rocketing, be sure to turn off the heater when your apartment is not being occupied. Try not using space heaters if possible, but if you do, always remember to use them safely!
Layers and Blankets- Break out the ugly old ski jacket or the millions of blankets. Whatever you need to do to maintain your comfort, do it! Trust me, staying warm is well worth the embarrasment of a silly old jacket, or the work of getting your old heavy blankets out of storage.
Parking Lot Care- If the roads freeze over and you absolutely must drive on the iced roads, use extreme caution everywhere…especially in the parking lot of your apartments. Let your car heat up a little before you begin driving and be careful if you are sliding around in the parking lot.
Many of us love the winter, but we ALL need to take the right precautions and most importantly, be cautious of the dangers and prepared to overcome them.

It is the 21st century and duvet covers are taking over the world as we know it. Millions of people all over the world have purchased this type of bedding and have not gone to any bedding ensemble ever since. They are the quickest and easiest way to change your bedroom decor. It is just a single covering that is so easy to use, instead of the complexity of making the bed with all the combinations of bed sheets, blankets and quilts that is needed. I’m still surprised to hear many people still do not know what they are. But before I explain to you what they are, why not explain what is a duvet. A duvet (pronounced due-vay) is a soft flat bag filled with silk, wool, cotton or artificial fibers. They are commonly used for isolation. The higher the tog rating the warmer they are. I have purchased them before and they are great for those cold winter nights. I usually buy them with a low tog rate so I am able to use them for spring as well. But you do not have to purchase a “due-vay” for the bed cover. Duvet covers are also known as comforter covers. They are highly used to protect comforters, as well as quilts and blankets. As we all know, a comforter is a type of blanket which is intended to keep the user warm. They are two pieces of fabric stitched along all four sides and filled with natural or synthetic material. The more padding it has, the warmer you will feel.
Many people spend lots of money a year on comforters because they get ruined from over washing. The majority of them are supposed to only be dry cleaned but many people still insist on throwing them in the washer. Big mistake! They either get too bulky or just get ripped. And there goes your money. Why keep spending so much money on them when all you need is a duvet bed set? The comforter cover goes over the comforter and protects it from getting dirty or soiled. No need to wash your comforter. Comforter covers are also great when you have a cherished blanket or quilt that has been passed on to you and you are not willing to let it go. They will definitely make these cherished items last a life time.
