In order to go into detail about different camping chairs we want to look at… we must first understand what a camping chair is and it’s function.
Sometimes, for amusement and an escape from the world, people go on long trips into the wilderness. This is sometimes done with a car, or even just a backpack. People like to do this in order to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. But, unfortunately, nature is not so kind to our backsides.

Sometimes these chairs are plastic, sometimes they are a simple cloth strung between two trees, but all of these marvelous objects are used for our personal comfort.

So, you have that wooden chair with one or two loose legs or rungs. The chair is too nice to throw away and you don’t want to take the whole thing apart to fix one or two loose dowels or legs. And at the same time, although you leave it out for family, when company comes the chair is always relegated to the corner to hold the planter.
Well there is a way to repair this chair without resorting to clamps or ugly nails sticking in at odd angles. And, most importantly, you can repair it without taking it apart!
You will need two things. First of all you will need a fine clear glue ( a cyanoacrylate for those in the know – that it the technical term for super glue type glues). I use one called Miracle Glue, as it lasts for years if kept in the freezer or refrigerator. You will want a glue that will wick well – by this I mean that it will soak down in between two pieces of wood that are close together. The other thing you will need is some very fine powder. Fine sawdust is probably best if you have access to it but talcum powder or baking soda will do in a pinch. You can even use coffee grounds or some spices to give the color that you want.
Turn your chair so that gravity helps you work the powder into the space between the two pieces of wood. Note here that you are leaving the dowel in the hole in the other part of the chair. Keep working it in until there is no more motion or give between the two pieces. Brush off any access around the hole so it is smooth. Take your Miracle Glue bottle and release a few drops onto the powder and let it soak in. Again, let gravity help. I usually do a drop at a time and keep going as long as it will soak in. Normally, 3-4 drops are enough unless there is a very large space to fill. With the right glue your chair will be fixed within minutes and although it is probably not necessary I wait 24 hours before letting my in-laws use the chair.
There you go – no more wobbly chair.

We all have wooden furniture in our homes. If nothing, everyone must be possessing one from among many types of wood chairs. If one of your wooden chairs is in such a condition that it can’t be used further, you can revamp it to get a new chair. Chair renovation will not only save you money but also do a favor to the environment. You’ll get a new cheap chair which is a fine piece of eco-friendly furniture too! Here is the step-by-step instruction for renovating your old wooden chair into a brand new upholstered chair.
Get the required material for your DIY project of chair renovation. You will need wood glue and clamps; a staplegun; some filling material (batting) like cotton, wool, synthetic fibers etc. or a foam cushion; upholstery fabric-5 inch larger than the foam cushion; fine-grit sandpaper; some paint or stain; and of course, the old wooden chair. Remove any screw that is still there on the chair. Also pull out the parts that are no longer strong enough to support the chair. Make the chair as strong as you can by reassembling the parts (that you had earlier pulled apart) with glue and clamps and then putting the screws back from where you disassembled them. If you plan to stain the wood, take out all the paint with the help of sandpaper. However, if you wish to paint your old furniture chair, you don’t need to sand it down to the wood. Wipe the chair with a damp cloth and let it dry. If staining, apply the wood stain with a piece of cloth evenly over the whole chair. Apply stain everywhere, even in the cracks. Apply two coats of stain to get a perfect even surface. If painting, apply the paint on the chair with even strokes of a small brush. Here also, you may need two coats of paint to get an even surface. Take the wood base of the cushion and set it on some thick batting. Now trace around the wooden seat form and lift the batting, upside down, onto the fabric. Put the wood on top to make a batting sandwich and then pull the fabric towards yourself. Staple on the underside of the seat platform. Staple it tightly across the top surface. Trim the extra fabric from the bottom and turn it over. If you want, you can even make another thinner cushion for the chair back (to be tied on at the top and bottom of the back). Alternatively, take the fabric(whatever is left) and make a simple pillow case. Slip it over the back and secure with a sash tied from front to back with a large bow behind it!
Your all renovated eco-friendly new upholstered wooden chair is all ready to be used!
