Every bride wants her wedding to be memorable – for herself and the groom, but also for their guests. A big part of making her wedding memorable is to select carefully from the myriad of memorable wedding table ideas. That selection begins with a dream, but it involves more than that.
Four Considerations
When searching for the most memorable wedding table ideas, you should keep four things in mind.
1. Significance: Whatever idea you use should have significance for you and your guests. If you wish, the candle holder or lamp chimney can be engraved.

If your wedding is to follow an Oriental theme, you will want to consider wedding table ideas to continue the theme. Bright red tablecloths are a good place to begin, as red is traditionally used in many Oriental weddings. Gold or silver favors will stand out against the red. Buying a present for a gardener should be easy. Whether they are a novice or an expert, you’ll find the holidays are the ideal time to give them gifts they will enjoy. When spring rolls around, they’ll have had plenty of time to decide how and where to use the gift you’ve given them.
You won’t have to go far to find the right gift. You probably have a gardeners’ catalog in your mailbox, a garden supply store nearby, and access to the Internet. There are many websites for wonderful selections.
Giving Practical Gifts
Your local hardware store or garden supply should have a good line of practical gifts. For the gardening beginner, gifts such as a shovel or trowel, garden hose or other digging and planting tools are perfect. Perhaps your gardener would like to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Among the most fashionable gifts for gardeners are wind spinners and flags. You can find wind spinners in a variety of colors, such as the patriotic red, white, and blue spinner, or the rainbow spinner. Garden flags are a popular gift because they can be changed to coordinate with the seasons, or more frequently just to create a new look in the garden.

Due to the popularity of my article entitled ‘Create a Natural Privacy Screen for your Deck or Balcony Area that is Sure to Add a Calming Charm,’ I thought it would be helpful to cover a few more ways to enhance your privacy in a natural and green way. This time by mixing in some additional foliage with coordinating color and some flowering possibilities.
When writing my original article, I knew right away that the issue of privacy screens would be a hit after speaking to so many neighbors, acquaintances, and overall troubled homeowners who were battling to find a natural way of melding their established landscaping with their balcony or deck area and add an element of what I refer to as ‘calming charm’ at the same time.
To help you out even more and take our original project subtly one step further, we can mix more than one vine together for the effect sought after and easily achieved in hanging and window baskets. By coordinating and complimenting more than one type of foliage and enhancing it with a color combination that fits your landscaping theme, your balcony or deck can take on an enchanting new and calming look. You may remember that our original project used only the Creeping Fig vine to create our privacy screen. Let us look at ways of starting a harmonious relationship between the Creeping Fig and other vines and plants.
Assuming you decide to use the Creeping Fig as we detailed in the first article, consider adding a second type of vine to your mix, such as pink Jasmine or another dark leaf plant. Both of these particular plants have a darker green foliage, but with much different shaped leaves. The growth characters of each are very different as well, with the Creeping fig exhibiting a natural ability to cling to surfaces, and the pink Jasmine trailing and wrapping itself around its own shoots and those of other plant varieties. The most significant difference between these two plants though is the flowering nature of the pink Jasmine and its well deserved fragrant reputation. Both are very hardy plants and blend very harmoniously together, while offering a splash of color during the spring and summer seasons from the pink Jasmine.
Here is how you will create your privacy screen:
Step 1: The planning and planting phase of creating this more colorful and natural privacy screen is essentially identical to that in the original article. You would pick out your plant containers, ideally rectangular to flow well with the shape of your balcony or deck. Make sure they have drainage holes or be sure to drill them yourself. Then, add a layer of small rocks or gravel to help with drainage and keep soil from falling through the drainage holes. Finally, add your potting soil, organic fertilizer, your vines of choice, and a top layer of mulch to help the soil retain moisture and resist weed growth. Your containers will most likely need to be a bit longer in length since you will be planting two vines side by side.
Step 2: Again, you will cut 1 to 2 inch strips of plastic fencing available in most garden centers, and attach loosely to your fence panels or deck railings using a staple gun. Be conservative in how much you staple. You are simply trying to attach a few of the vine lengths to give them a start. Use plastic coated wire ties to attach a few of those vine lengths to the plastic fencing. Eventually, the vines will grow and shield the visibility of these plastic fencing and wire pieces, so you will forget they are even there.
Step 3: Follow the directions received on the information tag that hopefully came with the vines you purchased, and water, fertilize, and prune accordingly.
You have now learned another way of giving your balcony or deck a calming charm, and adding a natural and lush privacy screen at the same time.

Some people dream of sugar plums dancing in their head; some dream of myriads of flowers blowing in the wind, and others dream of completely renovating their kitchens. Does that sound weird? Anyway, all of the real cooks in the world would rather cook the sugar plums, use the flowers for decorations for their table, and have a kitchen that only appears in their wildest fantasies.
Since the beginning of time, the kitchen has been the center of the home. The kitchen provided warmth, food, and fellowship. Even in the tiniest hut, the kitchen is still everyone’s favorite room. Because the kitchen is the heart of the home, it should also be the best decorated and perfectly equipped room in the house. Unfortunately, most men build houses and have no idea what should really go into a dream kitchen. Women, of course, have input if they are buying a new home, but few if any women really know what they want in their new kitchen until they start cooking and realize what they are missing.
The Food Network had a few episodes about remodeling kitchens. Some of their superstar chefs were paired with homeowners who really needed a kitchen remodeling. I mean these kitchens were a real mess. All of these homeowners wanting their kitchens remodeled submitted video tapes which were judged. For instance, Paula Deen was paired with a couple who had a kitchen remodeling plan that was just a little bit country just like Paula. The completed kitchen remodeling design had elements of a modern kitchen with modern equipment with added touches to add that country look. The finished kitchen remodeling project was incredibly lovely. The kitchen was not the true center of that home. From a kitchen that was almost useless, this kitchen was now both useful and gorgeous.
If you are like most people and you don’t have a Food Network Superstar designing your kitchen, you should first do your homework. You might start with watching some of the Food Network shows. I am, among other things, a Food Network junkie. I love, love, love to watch cooking shows. Anyway, look at the kitchens used in the shows. Paula Deen’s cooking show is now filmed in her own kitchen in her new house. She created a kitchen that, not only fulfilled her needs as a Food Network cook, but her needs as a home cook as well. She has a built in deep fryer, an inside grill, and many other goodies we ordinary kitchen owners can only dream about.
There are many magazines dedicated to house design and kitchen remodeling. The Home and Garden show also helps people with their kitchen remodeling ideas. Of course, unless you are incredibly wealthy, you have to figure in your kitchen remodeling cost budget. You have to create a wish list for your kitchen remodeling dreams. You might have to do your kitchen remodeling piece by piece. Draw your dream kitchen, your kitchen remodeling floor plan, and write your kitchen remodeling plan. Then you can decide what changes you can make and what kitchen remodeling ideas you can begin with.
If you like a retro look, you might want to check out antique shops for your kitchen remodeling ideas. There are many stores that completely refinish old kitchen equipment so that you have some actual antique stoves, fridges, and other kitchen appliances. Of course, for people who like a more modern look, most any store will have what you want for your kitchen remodeling ideas.
If you have a small house, you can still remodel your kitchen. Focus on planning your kitchen remodeling ideas to fit your small kitchen needs. You might even want to buy smaller appliances to give you more room for kitchen cabinet remodeling. Most builders do not configure kitchen cabinets the same way a good cook would. We know the common scenario: The junk is piling up and space is running out. We have all been through this routine umpteen times and living in an apartment with all this junk can prove challenging when looking for places to store things.
You can only stuff so much in your closet before the door busts off its hinges. It’s time to stop shoving things in boxes in the closet and use some of these creative storage and organizational ideas that will help you keep the junk under control.
Wall Shelves- Take small storage pieces like a two shelved shoe organizer and attach them to the wall to create wall shelves that can easily house books, collectibles, and other little conversational items.
Mobile Storage Unit- Find a cheap plastic multi-level storage shelf unit and attach some easy to attach casters or wheels to the bottom. Add a few small containers and/or bins to those shelves and suddenly you have a rolling organizational masterpiece ideal for storing shoes, socks and undies, tools, and other small items.
Storage Bench- This is my favorite storage idea! Basically, get a hold of an old upper kitchen cabinet or even buy a new one from Home Depot. Add some feet to the bottom and attach seat cushions to the top. Suddenly, you have an awesome sittable piece of furniture with storage space underneath the seat.
Stacked Bench Bookshelf- How about this: Stack three colored simple wooden benches on top of one another against a wall. Throw a standing clock on the top and line each bench below with books like a bookshelf. Make sure and add some attached support from the wall and, viola, you have a standing bookshelf.
Organized Entryway- When you come into your apartment, think of all the junk you bring in with you. From coats and hats to phones, mail, and keychains, the amount of stuff that you bring in with you and empty from your pockets far out number the junk going out. So, keep it all close to the entry. Line you entryway walls with hooks to hang coats, keys, and hats. Set up a small shoe organizer to keep those muddy foot pieces on the linoleum floor. Install some hanging drawers and a wall shelf to store the mail, tax write off receipts and other small pieces that get lost anywhere else in the apartment. Add a piggy bank or a cool change jar to the mix to chunk all the spare change that dump out of your pockets. Lastly, put a small, tasteful waste basket near the door to rid of the candy wrappers, unneeded receipts, and other bits of trash before it enters your lair.
If you are having some organizational issues and your apartment is getting cluttered from random items of junkness entering your abode everyday, try a few of these ideas to get things organized. The organized entryway and the storage bench really upgraded my living and lifestyle. If you can only try a couple. Try those!

One of the most popular trends of the new millennium is on towards outdoor living. What this means is that more and more people are seeking to use their land as well as their houses as living spaces, moving living areas out onto decks and patios and even lawns. By doing his, people can enjoy nice weather outdoors and still have the comforts they expect inside.
Contrary to popular opinion outside of our borders, Canadians are certainly not exempt from the draw of outside living. In fact, one might say that we appreciate really great weather even more than our neighbours to the south, since we know what BAD weather is really like. So it’s not surprising that all across Canada people are creating their own outdoor living rooms, from the rural areas right to the big cities such as Toronto.
Of course, when you are talking about the majority of Toronto residents in the downtown area particularly, outdoor living spaces are going to be centred around the balconies of apartment and condominium complexes. In this article, we are going to take a look at some ideas to incorporate into your outdoor living on your Toronto balcony.
Start with your furniture. The best place to begin when it comes to setting up a living area outdoors is with your furniture choices. Most balconies are covered, so you won’t have to worry about the effects of rain, but wind can still do some weathering on susceptible furniture. Take a look at pieces made form hardy materials, but which are still comfortable to sit or lie down on. You might want to include a couple of different pieces for sitting or lying down on; chairs, hammocks, even swings are all great options. Whether your living room is a 21 foot length with a large picture window at one end or you live in a tiny apartment and the living room is bijou to say the least, there are living room décor ideas to suit you and your budget. You can go for cozy chic and warm up your living space or go for open-plan with vaulted ceilings and an expanse of herringbone hardwood floor. At the end of your project you will have ended up with a space that you can live in comfortably, decorated according to the space you have available. Are you aiming for a peaceful retreat, full of serenity and harmony or a more user-friendly, basic living space where you feel comfortable slipping your shoes off and putting your feet up.
If I was choosing a color scheme for my living room I would go to the cooler colors on my color wheel chart – the blues and greens which can be used in different shades to achieve a ‘joined-up’ look of cool elegance. I always make sure that, when I paint my ceiling, I use a light shade of the room’s main color on my ceiling so, if my color scheme was blue, I would use the lightest eggshell blue I could find for my ceiling and then a slightly deeper shade of blue for my walls. If you have mouldings you could paint those completely white, or go for a darker shade of blue to both the walls and the ceiling. I would use matt paint on my walls and a paint with some kind of sheen on the mouldings.
For windows, to add height, place the curtain pole as high as possible near to the ceiling. This will give your curtains plenty of drop to achieve an elegant drape. Modern décor arrangements always suggest that the fabric should be allowed to pool on the floor – never in my house. To me, artistic though it evidently is, this ‘pooling’ idea for the fabric is just a dust collector and, if you have dogs like I do, is just asking them to make a bed out of the fabric! Why did I mention this? Find out what the trends are, but that does not mean you have to follow the trends slavishly. Adapt styles to suit you and your lifestyle.
You would think, wouldn’t you, that a large picture placed on the wall in a small room would be overpowering. Surprisingly, it isn’t. I have the tiniest lounge you can imagine and, on the wall above the fireplace I have a really large picture of the Defence of Rourke’s Drift, depicting the British soldiers of ‘B’ Company, South Wales Borderers. This picture is very loud, very busy, with plenty going on in it. However, it looks absolutely fantastic in that room, almost as if the room was made to fit the picture!
